So the new trailer for Wolverine: Origins has been online for a few days (See it Here)
I finally checked out the trailer, which looks great, and then went through and found a couple of frames which really excited me.
First up we have the first look at Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool (without the famous mask). Personally I love Ryan Reynolds and hope this turns into the much rumored Deadpool movie with him starring. Anyways here you go:
Next up is a scene straight out of the Origins comic where a young James Howlett first pops his claws out (made of bone) as he begins his long journey to become Wolverine:
I saw Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" today and will have a review up soon. But know it was one of the, if not the, best movie I've seen this year. Simply phenomenal. Below is the trailer for the film, which I can't recommend enough.
Here's an example of how to make a good trailer and how to make a horrible trailer (of course the bad trailer may just be that it's a horrible movie).
First off we have the trailer for Terminator: Salvation (No it's real this time, no RickRoll's in site) which shows just enough to make us want to see it, while not giving it away. And it makes it look good:
Next up we have a movie I was holding out hope for simple because it stars Buffy's James Marsters, but which has been looking worse and worse over time. This trailer for Dragonball Z just makes it painfully obvious that this is going to be an awfully bad movie:
Hey there's a new Terminator Salvation trailer that's been leaked online. It's not actually supposed to come out for a month or two so see it while you have the chance, before they yank it down: HERE!!!!
So there's finally some more news on the Fanboys front. As you may recall it was announced that the original Cancer version would be released sometime in the 4th quarter this year. Well with The Weinstein's pushing back almost all of their films from 2008 to 2009 Fanboys has finally gotten a firm release date: February 6th, 2009. Now if you've been following the ongoing Fanboys saga as I have you may recall it was originally supposed to be released on Valentine's day 2007. The movie was so close to coming out that the February 2007 issue of Geek Monthly Magazine featured Kristen Bell on the cover and in an article about the movie.
But finally after 2 years of waiting (This will be the third year in a row that Fanboys appears on my list of movies I'm looking forward to in the new year) it looks like we might get to see the finished product. (I myself missed a chance to see a test screening way back in Dec of 2006, but couldn't make it so I've been waiting a long time.)
While we wait the 4 months until release you can check out the new preview for Fanboys Here. And below you can see the new poster for the movie via Cinematical. I must agree with the folks over at SlashFilm in that it's a bit done, since it clearly is playing off of The 40-Year Old Virgin poster which came out over 3 years ago and has since been done several times. I'd like to see something playing up the Star Wars aspect a bit more. Hopefully we'll get another one before the movie is released.
There's a bunch of new trailers out there so I've rounded up some intriguing ones for your enjoyment! I've embedded the first couple and then linked to the rest.
Franklyn: This move looks unbelievably weird! It's a “split narrative set simultaneously in contemporary London and in a future metropolis ruled by religious fervor.” The movie stars Ryan Phillipe and Eva Green.
Sunshine Cleaning: This movie is a dark comedy starring Amy Adams and Emily Blunt as sisters who get into the business of crime show cleaning.
Let The Right One In: Warning! This is a red band trailer and I haven't watched it yet, so beware it might have some material not suitable for work or youngsters, mainly blood and gore I believe. The movie is one I mentioned a few months back in my article about the Six Shooter Film Series and comes from Sweden. It's a story of a lonely boy and his new friend who is not who she seems.
Seven Pounds: The new Will Smith Drama (you can tell because it's released at Christmas Time instead of in the summer) focuses on Smith's IRS agent whose secret will change the life of seven strangers. See the Trailer Here.
Bride Wars: Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway are friends turned enemies once they schedule their weddings on the same day. See it Here.
The Broken: I can't make this stuff up - "On a busy street in London, Gina thinks she sees herself drive past in her own car. Stunned by this strange event, Gina follows the mystery woman up to her apartment. From here, events take an eerie turn for the worse until Gina’s awareness slides from solid reality into a world that will haunt more than just her nightmares." Your guess is as good as mine. And finally we've got JCVD: That's Jean Claude Van Damme for you not in the know. JCVD plays a version of himself, down on his luck after a series of Direct to DVD flicks who gets involved with some real life action, thanks to an ill-timed arrival during a bank robbery. The movie has been getting Rave Reviews for months and I'm dying to see it. Oh and it's in French. See it Here.
So here's a couple of fun things I found purusing the Interwebs this morning:
You may recall seeing around the Nets that Captain America's shield had been an Easter Egg in Iron Man. If you don't remember look right below for some pics:
Cut to the present and with the upcoming release of The Incredible Hulk on DVD we've got an Easter Egg which was cut from the movie, where you can see Captain America on Ice!
First a Little Background info: Back before the movie was released Slashfilm had an interview with the movies director Louis Leterrier who claimed that even though we had seen Cap's Shield in Iron Man we'd be seeing the man himself in Hulk. But the movie came and went without anyone seeing Cap. Well it now appears it was in a scene that was cut from the movie as the studio (and supposedly everyone involved, although I bet Edward Norton might disagree) had decided the scene was too dark for kids.
Well Slashfilm now has a couple of pics which I have posted below that come from the above mentioned deleted scene from the film. Here's the screen capture. Be patient as it took me a few seconds of staring before I saw anything, kind of like those old Magic Eye posters:
Now I realize you're probably going "Huh? I don't see nothing." So here's a slightly better image with the area you should be looking at zoomed in for you:

Now I understand it's not much, but it does mean that Marvel is working on getting things right with their film franchises. The movie interlock, see Robert Downey Jr's appearance as Tony Stark in The Incredible Hulk and the mention of The Avengers Initiative in both Iron Man and Hulk and connecting Cap to both of them. (Although this scene was cut the Hulk movie's plot had a lot to do with the Super Serum which originally turned Steve Rogers into Captain America.) And we at least know that Captain America's origin will stay in tact with him being frozen in ice to get him from WWII to the Present. All in all for a film and comic geek it's pretty exciting.
And now for something completely different. Here's a match up of Toy Story 2 and The Dark Knight. I'm at work (I was told to surf the net as my project is not ready so don't worry) so I haven't watched it yet, but Cinematical says it's great. So enjoy:
I'll admit I'm a pretty big fan of Jason Statham. If I hear he's involved with something it will usually peak my interest and I'm more interested in seeing it. In fact I've almost watched 'In the Name of the King' several times, but my disgust of anything involving Uwe Boll has overcome each time.
So of course when I heard there was going to be a Transporter 3 I was excited. I loved the Transporter, it was a great mix of great martial arts-y action and sweet stunt driving with just a dash of humor thrown in and a hint of romance. I even liked the sequel even though it had some problems. Although it still had some great action and stunt driving, I think they lost me with the horrible plane crash cgi which looked like something I could have made with some legos and a video camera from the late 80s. But it was still a fun ride, even if the action was a bit more over the top.
And from the looks of this trailer for the new 3rd movie it looks like it's going even more over the top. Don't get me wrong I'll probably be there opening day, but I don't think it's going to compare with the original. But go ahead and take a look for yourself and let me know what you think of the series as a whole and how this new one looks.
Friday night I finally made it back to a movie theater to see "Prom Night" and while I actually enjoyed it quite a bit (a review will come later on) the scariest part of the night was the trailer for The Strangers.
The Strangers tells the story of a couple, Kristen and James (Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman), who come home one night after a wedding and are slowly terrorized by 3 masked strangers. From the preview it looks like the couple are celebrating a recent engagement (or are about to become engaged) as there are rose petals laid out on the bed and candles and champagne set out on the table. But their celebration is interrupted by some strange noises outside.
Then comes the scariest part of the trailer, Kristen standing in her dining room/kitchen area as a man in a mask, made from what looks like a burlap sack, walks into the frame behind her. The man doesn't do anything but stand still and watch her. But the most unnerving part is how long the scene plays. Most trailers cut from scene to scene as quickly as possible, but here it stay on this creepy image for what seems like an eternity, but is really only a few seconds.
Then we see the other 2 masked strangers, who look to be women as they appear and then are gone when the couple turns to look for something. When the couple hears a record playing and go to investigate they see James' cell phone melting in the fire place. They hear more noises and find the word hello written on the inside of one of their windows.
Then an ax crashes through the front door as James stands inches from it, and the trailer kicks into high gear. We see quick cuts of the 3 strangers as they terrorize the couple, chasing them, and finally standing in front of the couple as they sit on the couch (another terrifying scene).
And in the end we get possibly the worst part of the entire trailer. We hear Kristen cry out "Why are you doing this?" and then comes the reply in a female voice "Because you were home" It's terrifying to find out there is no reason to it. Something like this could happen to anyone and for no reason other than because you were home when they stopped by.
If the movie is half as terrifying as the trailer it will be an amazingly frightening movie. I'm hoping to get a chance to see this when it comes out, preferably on opening night with a packed house. And the main reason I'll be going to see it: it's a scary movie that's not torture porn. I love being scared in movies, but the new string of torture porn makes it hard to see any good scary, suspenseful film, because all they're about it grossing people out not scaring you.
