I've asked a few of my friends to send me reviews of movies they've seen, so look for some Guest Reviews and Second Opinions appearing here occasionally. And Here with the first review is my friend Matt Kalish, with a review of the film "One Night with the King"

One Night with the King

Starring: Tiffany Dupont, Luke Goss and John Rhys-Davies

What’s it about: This film is a fascinating and refreshing retelling of the Biblical story of Esther. The film stars relatively unknown Tiffany Dupont as the Jewish girl Hadassah who takes the name Esther to hide her true heritage in a politically charged time of the Persian Empire. King Xerxes is played majestically by British pop star Luke Goss. The film holds Lord of the Rings qualities in it epic grandeur and thematic overtones. Additional the film stars two Lord of the Rings actors with John Noble playing the twisted Prince Admantha and John Rhys-Davies as the Jewish Leader and royal scribe Mordecai. This film holds power in its touching look at King Xerxes and his constant challenge to find balance between his legacy and what he knows in his heart is right.

What did I think: I found this film to be a wonderful film that captured the story of Esther very well.

Why you should see it: Written by Omega Code screenwriter and a former UCLA football player, Stephen Blinn, this movie belongs in most households. It captures the intrigue and subtle outlines of a brutal empire without forcing the images upon the viewer.
