(Kelly Blatz, Drew Seely, Hartley Sawyer, and Matt Bush)

With TBS losing almost all of its My Boys cast to various network pilots, at least two of which have been picked up, it was pretty clear TBS needed a new comedy series.  Apparently, TBS, thinks it has found one as they have announced pick up of new series Glory Daze.  The series focuses on a group of friends as they experience college in 1980s Wisconsin.

To me the series sounds almost like an 80s version of ABC Family's Greek, which is not necessarily a bad thing.  Like Greek I anticipate the friends will be having the "typical" college experience, only with the added bonus of 80s music, clothes, and references.  You can check out the full press release below.

TBS Goes Back to the 1980s with New College Comedy GLORY DAZE

TBS has given the greenlight to the one-hour comedy series GLORY DAZE, a 1980s-set college comedy starring Kelly Blatz (Aaron Stone), Callard Harris (Sons of Anarchy), Matt Bush (High School), Drew Seeley (Freshman Father), Hartley Sawyer (Killian), Julianna Guill (My Alibi) and Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live, Mean Girls).  TBS has ordered eight episodes of the series, which was created by Walt Becker (Wild Hogs) and Michael LeSieur (You, Me and Dupree).  GLORY DAZE is slated to premiere on TBS in late 2010.

GLORY DAZE centers on a group of friends who are trying to navigate college life in 1980s Wisconsin.  From being out on their own for the first time to pledging a fraternity, they discover how challenging the next few years are going to be.

“GLORY DAZE is a sharply written, laugh-out-loud comedy with a talented ensemble cast, including comic veteran Tim Meadows,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming, for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM).  “The time is right for this feel-good, funny and fresh take on college life in the ‘80s.”

TBS’s GLORY DAZE is being produced by TBS Productions.  Becker and LeSieur, who wrote the pilot episode, serve as executive producers.
