I sat down to watch The Haunting of Molly Hartley (THOMH) last night as I've been on a horror kick recently. But after Friday the 13th and My Bloody Valentine 3D, I honestly wasn't feeling this one.
THOMH is kind of like a "Beginner's Guide to Horror" I think it would be the perfect movie for a slumber party for girls between the ages of 10 and 13, especially if they've never really seen a horror movie. The movie is rated PG-13 and thus there's not a lot of blood and the scary images aren't too disturbing. It's not a bad movie, the acting is good and the plot is decent, its just not going to impress anyone who's seen a lot of horror movies.
If you missed yesterday's post about the movie here's the synopsis from the press release:
"The Haunting of Molly Hartleyis a horror-filled psychological thriller following a teenager who bravely tries to start her life all over again after surviving a bizarre attack from her psychotic mother. Now, in her posh new private school, Molly is finally starting to fit in, but as she is thrust into a realm of hot parties and hallway gossip, she is haunted by creepy visions and eerie experiences that follow her everywhere, leading to a terrifying secret from her past that will change the course of her life forever."
Overall it's a decent flick, but its not really going to scare you unless you are ultra sensitive to scary movies or are a young girl who hasn't seen many horror films. So moms & dads keep this one in mind the next time you have a slumber party for your pre-teen daughter.
