On Monday, January 18th at 9/8 c The CW will launch it's newest series, Life Unexpected. I have to be honest I really could have cared less about this series. It's about a girl who was given up for adoption and who finds them 16 years later after floating from foster home to foster home. Basically it's like Loralie Gilmore gave up Rory and then Rory came back when she was 16, I already saw the real Gilmore Girls, so why should I watch this? And maybe that's the way you feel about it, and if so I've got you're answer....Because it's good.

A few weeks back I received the first 3 episodes of the series from the CW, and after putting it off I finally watched the pilot, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's actually a fun, well written, and wonderfully performed drama, that feels right at home on The CW, and I mean that as a good thing. It feels more like a Gilmore Girls than a Gossip Girl/90210/Melrose Place. It's a more well rounded show than any of those and I think it has real potential. I liked it so much the next night my wife and I saw down to watch the 2nd and 3rd episodes back to back. In fact the only downside to having the screener is I have to wait until February for a new episode.

Now comes news that The CW is offering the first 10 min of the series to Facebook Fans starting Monday January 11th, one week before the show premieres. If I were you I'd take the 10 min to check it out, then tune in on January 18th for the full pilot. You can read the full press release about the special preview below:

Life Unexpected is the story of 15-year-old Lux (Britt Robertson, “Swingtown”), who, after spending her life bouncing from one foster family to another, has decided it’s time to become an emancipated minor. Her journey through the legal maze leads Lux to her biological parents, Nate “Baze” Bazile (Kristoffer Polaha, “Mad Men”) and Cate Cassidy (Shiri Appleby, “E.R.”). When a judge unexpectedly grants temporary joint custody to Baze and Cate, they agree to make a belated attempt to give Lux the family she deserves. Life Unexpected is produced by CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television in association with Mojo Films with executive producers Liz Tigelaar (“Brothers and Sisters,” “What About Brian”), Janet Leahy (“Boston Legal,” “Gilmore Girls”) and Gary Fleder (“October Road”).
