The quote in the title comes from the third book in the brilliant Scott Pilgrim series. And it's what came to mind last night when I saw the first official still, seen above, from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World via director Edgar Wright's twitter. You can click on the photo for the High-Res version.

The photo shows Micheal Cera as the titular Scott Pilgrim, a 22 year old slacker and bass guitarist for Sex Bob-omb, he's the one with the flaming Katana. It appears he's fighting some low level minions as Jason Schwartzman's Big Bad Boss, Gideon Gordon Graves, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead's love interest Ramona Flowers watch from the wings.

The movie, like the book series, tells the story of Pilgrim as he meets the love of his life, Ramona, but in order to date her he must battle her 7 evil ex's, culminating with Graves. The movie has a great cast full of young talent including: Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Alison Pill, Brandon Routh, and Johnny Simmons. And its all under the direction of one of the most fun directors of the past decade, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead's Edgar Wright.

You can read the official Synopsis and credits and see one more new image below:

Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for totally average garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams…literally. The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him. Genre-smashing filmmaker Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) tells the amazing story of one romantic slacker’s quest to power up with love in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It’s getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart’s ass—and now is back in town—to the teenage distraction he’s trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn’t been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes control her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor.

As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues’ gallery from her past—from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsomely identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.
